At Potton Middle School we were ‘fortunate’ enough to welcome, Laura Noakes, the author of 'Cosima Unfortunate Steals a Star’.   Kindly offering her time, Laura led an inspiring assembly for all of our KS2 students, discussing how her new story was created, how she invented the many wonderful characters in her book, and how her own battle with hyper-mobility spectrum disorder is demonstrated within her main character, Cosima.  After much anticipation and such difficult deliberation, 15 competition winners across the Key Stage were also lucky enough to enjoy a Young Writer’s Workshop led by Laura, who imparted her wisdom and top tips for writing fantasy stories. One student beamed, "The workshop was so much fun and really helpful. We learnt a lot about how to create characters and how best to describe setting. It was great!"  We'd just like to thank Laura for returning to her old school and for sharing with our students the many wonders that a book can hold!'

Mr Brooks, Potton Middle School

'It was so lovely to welcome Laura Noakes to Gothic Mede Academy on 22nd June. Laura was wonderfully motivating and inspired our children to be authors and write creatively. The children received a real insight into the importance of having characters with disabilities in children's literature.  Laura has a naturally engaging personality and connected with the children from the moment she entered the classroom. Thank you so much Laura!'

Ms Oestreicher, Gothic Mede Academy

'Inspirational doesn’t even come close to describing the effect Laura had on our pupils during the time she spent at our school. Our pupils had a great morning and all thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly pitched writing workshops. We all learnt a great deal about how to become an author and all of my colleagues were very impressed with how she engaged and interacted with our children.'
